I have served the Charleston community as a park ranger for the South Carolina State Park Service and as a volunteer at local museums and parks for over 35 years. During my career with the Park Service at Charles Towne Landing State Historic Site, I have presented public programs, preserved and protected the archaeological sites, served as the park and the education department volunteer coordinator, and managed educational operations. John Muir influenced my career in museum interpretation and my personal journeys along with Freeman Tilden. My start in photography was a desire to capture the natural world I discovered in parks, while my patience for nature photography was honed through the inspirational the writings of John Muir, a mountaineer and a pioneer of interpretation of natural history.
